One more photo from the picturesque Guagán.  If you’re visiting Cork and it’s not actually raining, this is a lovely place to visit.

There were two dalmatians down on Youghal Beach a few weeks back enjoying the fresh air and chasing sticks.  No recession worries for them; it’s a dog’s life!

This lion-tailed macaque at Fota Wildlife Park sat on his perch for quite some time munching away on an orange.  According to info on the Fota site, there were only 2500 of them left in the wild in 2006, half the number present in 1998.   Wikipedia stomps in with some interesting facts including that it gets its name from the German for Beard Ape.  That could be complete nonsense but it sounds plausible to me.

Of course he’s not actually going to France, for any non-Irish people passing through here there was an ad on Irish tv about taking a horse to France to somehow advertise Kerrygold butter.  Boards.ie have a discussion on how annoying that ad was here.

An oryx yawns at Fota Wildlife Park.  Apparently there are only 1500 of these fellas left in the world, but he (or she?) doesn’t seem too bothered.

I was down in Fota two weeks ago on a glorious Sunday afternoon when we had that week of an Indian summer.  The place was packed with young families who like us were happy to get out on a Sunday for a change this year.  This week on Pana-Vision will be Fota week as I work my way around the park.

A few happy swans munching food thrown for them (indeed, sometimes it was thrown at them!) taken on a recent photo walk at The Lough organised by Donncha.  There was a good turn out and it was good to meet other bloggers seeing as I never make it up to the Blog Awards in Dublin.  Kevin has a photo up today already as does Donncha (two actually!) and if you haven’t seen enough swans just yet there are loads more in the following sets of photos

“Elvis” catches the ball on Inchydoney beach last weekend.  His owners are to the right, you can see their long wintry shadows in the sand.  It probably would have been a better photo with them in the frame but, you may have noticed, my policy is not to include people unless I have got their permission.

Elvis is a little fuzzy in the picture, I shot ths at 1/160 but it obviously needed a much faster shutter speed.
