Bord Gais Energy recently starting selling electricity to the Irish market, adding to the incumbent ESB and another recent entrant, Airtricity.  This shows the Bord Gais HQ in Cork with part of the slick marketing campaign attached to the buiding.  They even have a Twitter account as part of the online presence.

The Elysian is a fantastic looking building but I think somebody somewhere got a little over-eager with their marketing campaign.  I still don’t know how the Elysian was allowed to go ahead by the way it completely overshadows Cork City Hall from the city side.  The Elysian is now open for business, time to get yourself that city apartment you always dreamed of?  Or is the recession going to kick in and knock the wind out of the Elysian hype?

Pa Johnsons Bar was completely re-built as part of the building of the apartment complex on that block. It is on the corner of Leitrim Street and Devonshire Street. MunsterPubs.com have a review of the bar from last year.

I met a man a few weeks back who was heavily involved with the development of a building in Cobh for youth work which he was hoping to get off the ground in July of this year.  I’m not sure if this is the building but it sounds like they’re doing great work down there.

Shandon Tower in the distance which is now visible from Patrick Street after the demolition of the building across from the Half Moon.  I’m sure something will take its place and block the view again!

I’m not sure what purpose this building has but there are two memorial outside it to commemorate Irish seafarers lost at sea. Cobh is a town steeped in maritime history and is well worth a visit for this. However, parts of the town are run-down and in need of refurbishment which is a pity as it could be a really nice town like Kinsale.

The County Hall in Cork which got an overhaul a few years back.  I must say it looks very impressive now, I must venture out there and get some more photos of this building.   The Wikipedia article on it has some more information.

This blog has been going for 2 months already with a daily photograph for each of those days.  There has been 1873 hits, 57 comments (although a lot are my own trackbacks!) and even managed a sale of a photo.  Thanks for dropping by!  Let me know if you have any suggestions to improve the site as I want to photograph as much of Cork as possible on this site.
