The Living Tradition on McCurtain Street recently closed its doors for the last time.  This is an awful loss for traditional music enthusiasts in Cork as it had a great collection of tradition music CDs, books and even some instruments.  The shop had moved from another premises on the same street in recent years but [...]]]>

The Living Tradition on McCurtain Street recently closed its doors for the last time.  This is an awful loss for traditional music enthusiasts in Cork as it had a great collection of tradition music CDs, books and even some instruments.  The shop had moved from another premises on the same street in recent years but obviously they couldn’t sustain the shop on an ongoing basis.  I’ll miss the place.  I think I was one of the last to make a purchase there late on a Saturday evening, buying the excellent album by Cork band Fred Can’t Stop I’m Being Timed.

LA Bagels is about half-way up Oliver Plunkett Street and they do a fine bagel.  I get my lunch here if I have to wander into town at lunchtime.

The site of the old Dunnes Stores on Patrick Street.  The front of the building remains the same but the rest of the building is gone, like a lot of old buildings in Cork at the moment.
