Happy new year to you and yours. It’s been a year since I started posting on Pana-Vision and while I had a daily photo for quite some time I didn’t keep things going during the summer. There’s more to life than blogging after all! I hope to keep posting on a regular basis here but 2009 will be a busy year for me as I’m getting married this year. Not long to go and too much on the to-do list still!
The photo above is of the occultation of Venus on December 1. I’m not too pleased with how it came out but I had to shorten the exposure length as anything longer than about 10 seconds was causing a streaming effect where the motion of the moon could be clearly seen. Anybody got tips for this type of photography?
Happy new year Donal!
As for that type of photography, last time I did one I took two exposures. One for the moon, one for the rest. Then two photos + photoshop = finished product. To properly expose for the moon, you’re going to be up around 1/125th (depending on other variables of course)
Last one I did was one for the moon, another slower exposure for the clouds.. http://www.flickr.com/photos/rymus/27658749/
